Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a type of surgery in which doctors use tiny incisions to access the abdomen and pelvis. It is often called “keyhole surgery” because of the small incisions and a camera that helps guide the procedure. Laparoscopy Surgery is one of the successful practices for dealing with patients affected by conditions, providing comfort without extreme pain during surgeries, and allowing patients to stay minimally in a hospital after the procedure.Hysteroscopy is a procedure whereby the doctor visualizes the inner uterine cavity by passing a thin, lighted tube known as the hysteroscope into the uterus. This helps the healthcare provider visualize and diagnose problems related to the uterus, such as fibroids, polyps, and irregular bleeding. Hysterectomy surgery is one of the best medical practices, giving doctors a diagnostic advantage and women therapeutic advantages.

The Procedure of Laparoscopy

Expert doctors at Kovai Abirami International IVF Center, perform the Laparoscopic surgery with great precision, which ensures less scarring, faster recovery, and better results. We offer solutions to fertility-related problems that people trust.

Preparation

Before the Laparoscopy surgery, patients often undergo tests like blood tests and imaging scans. They are also advised to fast, avoiding food or liquids for a few hours before the procedure.

Anesthesia

When a patient enters a Laparoscopy hospital, anesthesia is provided, which makes the patient comfortable and pain-free during the surgery. This is general anesthesia, which means the patient is asleep the entire time.

Small Incisions

A surgeon makes several minor cuts in the abdominal region. There may be as few as one cut, but up to four in necessary cases.

Placement of the Laparoscope

Inserted into the body by passing through one of the incisions, a thin hollow light-endoscope-cum-camera tool will give views of all internal organs and their interrelations through video monitors, which makes surgeries easier to do.

Treating tissues

Special instruments are used by surgeons to carry out procedures including removing lesions, clearing cysts, and clearing obstructions. The movement of the surgeon’s expertise is guided by the camera.

Recovery period

Recovery time is shorter as compared to open surgery. There is only minor discomfort and this can be manageable since the doctor will provide prescribed pain medicines. Depending on the procedure, the patient is discharged home the same day or shortly afterwards.

Guiding families with
care on the path to parenthood.

  • Limited to Certain Conditions:

Laparoscopy surgery is not for all kinds of medical conditions. It is not suitable for very complicated cases or when the surgeon cannot view the affected area clearly.

  • Longer Operation Time (Initially): The surgery would take more time than open surgery depending on the surgeon’s expertise with the laparoscopic procedure. Also it requires specialized training and equipment.

  • Risk of Injury to Other Organs: Though this is a remote risk, there is still a chance of damaging adjacent organs especially in more complex or difficult cases. This often occurs as a result of technical problems or abnormal anatomy.

  • Not Suitable for Obese Patients: In obese patients, it is difficult to reach the surgical space, so sometimes an open surgical procedure may be required.

  • Possible Gas Insufflation Complications: Carbon dioxide gas is inflated in the abdomen to create space for surgery by the surgeon. It sometimes causes side effects such as shoulder pain or bloating, and in extreme cases, causes a gas embolism-when air bubbles are formed in the bloodstream.
  • Costly Initial Procedure: Most of the specialized equipment required in the performance of laparoscopic surgery – such as cameras, tools, and monitors – may be a costly setup at first in medical facilities, although this can be counterbalanced with reduced recovery times and overall costs in patients.
