PGT-A/PGD Treatment: Ensuring Healthy Pregnancies

Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) and Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) are advanced genetic screening techniques used alongside IVF to increase the chances of achieving a healthy pregnancy. At Kovai Abirami International IVF Center, we offer these advanced treatments to help couples overcome genetic challenges and ensure the birth of a healthy baby.

At Kovai Abirami International IVF Center, this treatment helps overcome genetic challenges for couples and ensures the birth of a healthy baby.

What is PGT-A?

PGT-A is a screening test performed to check the embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before implantation. It filters out those embryos with the correct chromosomal number, which reduces the risk of miscarriages and other genetic syndromes like Turner syndrome or Down syndrome. PGT-A Treatment is of particular utility helpful to women of advanced maternal age or those with a history of miscarriage or IVF failures.

What is PGD?

PGD tests embryos for specific genetic disorders such as cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, and muscular dystrophy. It will be perfect for couples with a family history of genetic conditions or even the ones who have already had children with inherited disorders. PGD Treatment will ensure that the embryo selected is free of genetic mutations so that it would provide a healthier pregnancy.

How do PGT-A and PGD Work?

IVF & Embryo Creation

Hormonal medication stimulates a woman's ovaries to produce multiple eggs instead of just one.

Embryo biopsy

The tiny sample is taken at the blastocyst's stage, which is roughly on day 5 or 6 of development.

Genetic Testing

The collected biopsy sample is sent to the laboratory and checked for any chromosomal disorder (PGT-A) or any genetic disease (PGD).

Embryo Selection

Healthy embryos are selected for transfer.

Embryo Transfer

The selected embryos are transplanted, and two weeks later, pregnancy is confirmed.
